For years, I operated in the fast-paced and often ruthless environment of corporate estate agencies. During that time, I refined my skills, forged valuable connections, and gained deep insights into an industry that can, at its best, help people achieve their dreams, and at its worst, become a quagmire of distrust. Then, like many, I watched the BBC Panorama series on estate agent practices, and it struck a chord with me. The portrayal of high-pressure sales tactics, the neglect of clients’ best interests, and the emphasis on commission over ethics was regrettably familiar. That moment was pivotal; I realized I could no longer be part of a system that often prioritized profits over people. I am convinced—now more than ever—that buying or selling a home should be an exciting, secure, and transparent experience, free of anxiety and uncertainty. That conviction led me to establish Donna Stonelake Estate Agents.

What motivated this change?
